We do not believe in simply sending a dog home with a list of commands and wishing the family luck.

How Residency™ Works

1. Evaluation

Every Residency™ journey begins with an evaluation.

We take time to learn about your dog, your goals, your current challenges, your home life, and what success looks like for your family. This helps us determine whether Residency™ is appropriate and what program length will best support your dog.

2. Custom Program Plan

Residency™ programs are built around your dog’s individual needs.

Program length starts at one week and may be extended depending on your dog’s goals, behavior concerns, current skills, and the level of training needed.

Your dog’s plan may focus on manners, leash skills, confidence, behavior modification, public skills, advanced obedience, impulse control, or a combination of goals.

3. Immersive Training

During Residency™, your dog receives structured training, individualized care, enrichment, rest, and daily support.

The goal is not to overwhelm your dog with constant drills. The goal is to create meaningful learning through consistency, thoughtful exposure, and relationship-based training.

Your dog will work on practical skills that support life with your family.

4. Real-World Exposure

This is one of the most important differences in Connected Canine’s Residency™ program.

We do not train only inside a facility.

Dogs in Residency™ practice skills in real-world environments where those skills matter most. Depending on your dog’s goals and readiness, training may include neighborhoods, parks, public spaces, pet-friendly areas, patios, stores, and other everyday environments.

We train for the life your dog is actually going home to.

5. Go Home Lesson

Before your dog returns home, you receive a Go Home Lesson.

This transfer session is designed to teach you what your dog has learned, how to communicate clearly, how to maintain progress, and how to continue supporting your dog after graduation.

Residency™ is not complete until the family understands how to move forward.

6. Homework and Follow-Up Support

After your dog returns home, you are not left on your own.

Homework is filmed for owners so you can review what to practice and how to support your dog’s progress. Follow-up lessons are included based on the length of your dog’s program, generally one follow-up lesson per week enrolled.

You also receive unlimited call, text, and email support because questions often come up after the dog is back in their everyday environment.

7. Lifetime Support

Residency™ families become part of the Connected Canine community.

You have access to free alumni classes, special events, continued guidance, and a trainer who already knows your dog.
